If it is broad, 'tis only because I expect we'll have much and more to cover.
[But she listens to what he says, tilting her head in contemplation.]
The dead are looking into many things, it seems.
You've heard the message about Angels returning to the world whence they came? It is my belief that the phrase "that which ties them to reality" refers to the items my brother spoke of--the possessions of the Watchers. One of them suggested to me that we may be drawn to these specific worlds because one is accessible to us there.
[Oh, oof. Alisaie looks a little bit uncomfortable at that reminder; just how much did van Zieks tell him...]
...indeed. Shamsiel and Suriel have promised to keep watch for another opportunity to retrieve it, however. We must needs pray they find one.
[She'll let that sit as well until he asks his next question, then frowns slightly.]
Not as much as I would like to. I received a letter from Rex, but so much of it was illegible that all I could read was that he's searching for something.
That you found a ruined city covered in ash. There was a volcano, a ghost... a place called the Kiln. You were separated from the other two, and went to find what remained of the 'Garden of Eden.'
There you met the angel Uriel, who spoke about angels, "the Authority," and the duty to guard the last remnants of life there. They entrusted you with... [He opens a palm in a pointed gesture. You know what.] Then the other angel, the Lord Regent, appeared and tried to stop you...

So it's safe?
[He considers her suggestion. It doesn't take very long.]
I can agree to that.

[And then a nod.]
Good. This mystery will unravel far faster if we join our forces rather than working separately. I'll let you begin.

That's a bit of a broad request... but as luck would have it, I did have something fall into my lap just recently.
[He opens his notebook and flips through the pages.]
Two weeks ago, a group retrieved a message that read: "This explosion would not only change the world we know, but the worlds we would never see."
I have been told that this passage refers to a past "revolution attempt." The dead are looking into it, they say.

If I understand correctly, we've failed to acquire one of these items...
[That hangs in the air for a few, heavy moments...]
... We'll have to try not to fail again.
[Another pause, and then,] Do you know what else the dead are looking into?

Good... I hope they will.
[The mention of Rex's letter is also acknowledged without much outward reaction.]
That's unfortunate... but at least they're trying to inform us. So long as they keep that up, some of it will continue to get through.

[Not that those questions bode thinking about, really.]
How much did van Zieks tell you about our venture last week? I'd like to know how much detail he gave you.

I think that covers most of it.
