How did you even end up as a detective, sir?

[He just nods. Sometimes somebody just decides that the last thing they're gonna do on this Earth is attempt to take you with them. It be like that.]

It's not a very interesting story. I joined the RCM -- Revachol's police force -- when I was 23. Started out in Juvie, and moved to Homicide five years ago.

You may think that it's not interesting, but everyone's life story is unique.

Why did you join the police?

[voltadomar]

Because I was young and idealistic, and I felt that I had something to prove. Something like that, anyway.

What about now?

I'm not that idealistic anymore... but I'm not a cynic, either.

I believe the RCM is necessary for Revachol. And my role, small as it may be in the grand scheme of things, is also necessary.

[escardos]

Every part of a machine is always necessary, sir.

[ flat nods in agreement ]

A missing screw can make a big difference in the long run. I'm glad to know that you're helping people, even if it's in your own way.

[He considers that, and nods. It's not a terrible comparison.]

What about you? What is it that you do, back home?

I'm a university student in London, actually.

[ flat beams ​]

I mean, it's not exactly the same as a university like Oxford, but it's pretty much the same thing, just with Magecraft instead of something like Engineering or Biology.

[voltadomar]

Hm.

[He doesn't know what Oxford is, but at least he's heard of London? This isn't too out there.]

And what do you use Magecraft for?
