It's hard to know how to deal with this when you don't even know what it was.
I would suggest a "buddy system" of sorts, to ensure that no one is caught alone and left unaccounted for should the unthinkable happen... but I doubt that this group would be amenable to that.

They described an... extremely bizarre scenario. Claimed they were "shrunk" down in size, that they entered a castle made of candy... and fought a large dog. [A pause, as he soaks in the psychic damage from trying to visualize all of this...] ... a cookie dog.
There probably aren't. [He agrees.] When they emerged, they came from the door of a building. We didn't find anything of the sort inside that building.
